This is CRAZY DOT COM! Â Did any of you know that in 29 states gay, lesbian and bisexual employees can be fired, denied employment or denied promotions because of their sexual orientation? Â In 37 states, this is true if you’re transgender.
Florida state law does not bar discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing or public accommodations. Â Pardon me while I vomit in my mouth a little bit.
This is ridiculous! Â However, there is currently a law before Congress called the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that could change all of this. Â ENDA would protect ALL Americans from job discrimination based on sexual preference or gender identity. More importantly, polls have suggested that more than 2/3 of Americans support these kinds of protections. Â Yay!
ENDA was first introduced in 1994 but, despite massive public support, it has not been passed by Congress.  To help this cause, you can make a short video letting Congress know that you want them to pass ENDA and why.  If you have a friend, family member or co-worker that you care about who needs this protection, make a video about that. If you have experienced or witnessed discrimination against LGBT people in the workplace, make a video about that.  Or if you’re just against discrimination make a video about THAT.
Once you’re done, upload your video to YouTube  and send the link to aclu.org.  You can also take a picture and send it to the aclu.org.
