Cambridge, Mass. Gets It Right

Currently in Massachusetts, some same-sex couples have to pay a federal income tax that heterosexual married couplea DON’T.  But, yes there’s a “but,” the city of Cambridge wants to do something about this law.

Public workers in Cambridge who put same-sex spouses on employer-provided health plans have been forced to pay tax on their coverage that can cost them upwards of $3,000…BUT the city is going to pay these workers to offset the tax.

This is pretty dope.  One of the city councilors even said that two people who do the same job should be paid exactly the same for what they’re doing regardless of sexual preference.

Congratulations Cambridge for setting an example to the rest of society for how things SHOULD be and not accepting what is.
