Well there seems to be a new wave of films coming out dealing with the HIV crisis of the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Yes there’s Matthew McConaughey in The Dallas Buyers Club, Micheal Douglas & Matt Damon in Liberace and now HBO’s upcoming The Normal Heart.
HBO has added two more stars to the cast of “The Normal Heart,” an adaptation of Larry Kramer‘s play to be directed by Ryan Murphy.
“The Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons and Taylor Kitsch (“Battleship,” “Friday Night Lights”) will star alongside Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer in the movie, Deadline reports. “The Normal Heart” takes place in NYC during the earlier days and reminds us of the sad and unfair treatment of those earlier diagnosed.
Parsons will play activist Tommy Boatwright in this film. Kitsch will play Bruce Niles, an in-the-closet banker who then later becomes an AIDS activist.
Kramer is adapting his play for HBO, with Murphy directing. Look for this film and the others all out over the next year.
