Well its appears that a handful of southern states and those elected to run them are Hell bent on passing anti-gay discriminatory legislation. From Georgia (who’s governor avoided and did not sign luckily) however North Carolina’s has and it looks like Mississippi and Tennessee’s will sign. The big question is will Florida be the next one of the states to join, if past comments and way of thinking goes it may very well be.
Bigots in North Carolina will get a huge surprise the next time they cross over the North Carolina, South Carolina border. Planting Peace the nonprofit organization behind the rainbow-colored Equality House, just posted this billboard near Hendersonville, North Carolina, perfectly calling out the state’s blatant anti-LGBT politics following the recently passed House Bill 2.
HB2 was signed into law on March 23, “ban[s] employers and businesses from discriminating against employees or customers based on their race, color, country of origin, religion, age or ‘biological sex.’ The bill offers no protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, and prevents local governments from passing any nondiscrimination policy that goes beyond the statewide standard.” The law also prohibits trans people from using the public restroom that corresponds with their gender identity.
There has been a big backlash out from both corporate America and the Fortune 500 companies as well as some famous actors and musicians. Let’s hope that the clueless leadership in Tallahassee and the rest of the south smarten up and decline to pass such laws.
